SEAGROVE BEACH, Fla. --- In the early hours Monday morning, South Walton Fire District firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Lakeview Drive in Seagrove Beach.

The SWFD Emergency Communications Center received the first call at 1:17 a.m., when a 911 caller located on S. Gulf Drive reported they could see a house on fire on the other side of Eastern Lake. Dispatchers worked to locate the residence and found the most likely address to be on Lakeview Drive.

SWFD Battalion Chief 1 and Station 2 firefighters then arrived on-scene to find a single- story home with flames and smoke visible from the back of the residence. They initiated a primary search for occupants and pulled hose lines to the back of the structure to knock down the flames.

Firefighters were able to confirm all the occupants had exited the home safely prior to the crews’ arrival. Extinguishment efforts continued throughout the backside of the home, as well as the back yard, until approximately 4:30 a.m.

The SWFD Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Unfortunately, the home suffered heavy damage due to the incident.

Approximately, 25 SWFD personnel responded to the scene. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

Thank you to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, as well as mutual aid partners, for assisting in this response.
