Tiverton, RI - The Tiverton Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire in the area of Neck Road in Tiverton, where crews arrived to find a large barn fully engulfed in flames behind a nearby property.

Firefighters quickly initiated suppression operations and brought the blaze under control in a short time, successfully confining it to the barn and preventing it from spreading to surrounding structures. Investigators later determined that the fire had been burning for an extended period before being discovered.

Despite challenging weather conditions, including heavy rain, thunder, and frequent lightning, crews operated effectively, and no injuries were reported.

An investigation conducted by local and state fire officials concluded that the fire was caused by a direct lightning strike.
