While nearby fire departments responded to a first-alarm structure fire in Middlesex Borough on May 24, members of the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department offered mutual aid coverage.
According to officials, Truck 7 was tasked with standing by at Lincoln Hose Company No. 1 to guarantee that fire protection was still present in the vicinity during the event. The team responded to one emergency call while on standby duty.
