Pine Bluff appoints new deputy chief
PINEBLUFF, AR - Dannie C. Smith appoints Shauwn D. Howell Senior as Deputy Fire Chief of Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services. As Deputy Fire Chief, Chief Howell is second in command and functions as the Fire Chief in the Fire Chief’s absence.
Shauwn D. Howell Sr. was born and raised in Pine Bluff, AR., Shauwn is the son of Mr. Wilbert and the Late Verdia Howell. Shauwn is married to Trammell L. Howell and they have three children Carreba, Shauwn Jr. and William. He is a 1986 graduate of Dollarway High School, 1990 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas for B.S. Industrial Technology, and a 2003 graduate of Southeast Arkansas College, for A.A.S. Fire Science.
Shauwn is an adjunct instructor at the Arkansas Fire Academy and Southeast Arkansas College. Shauwn started his fire service career with the Pine Bluff Fire Department on February 16, 1999. He was promoted to Engineer in 2005, then promoted to Lieutenant in 2008. Shauwn served as Training Director 2009 and appointed to Deputy Fire Chief 2010. Shauwn was the first person to serve as Public Information Officer (PIO) for the department.
