WEST LAFAYETTE, OHIO - On June 9, 2021, shortly before 1:30 pm, the West Lafayette FD was paged out to a reported car fire in the 52000 block of Township Road 151.
When the West Lafayette FD arrived on scene, they found a Chevy Suburban with all the windows gone and heavy fire coming out all the openings. A hand line was stretched out to the fire and after charging the line two firefighters proceeded to attack the fire. After an initial knock down the gas tank developed a leak and caught fire in a large puddle under the vehicle and was reigniting the fire. After the interior was mostly out firefighters sprayed foam throughout the interior and under the vehicle to stop the gas fire on the water puddle. The vehicle was a total loss.
Assisting on scene were the Coshocton County EMS, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, and the West Lafayette PD.
