(OCALA, FL.) June 2, 2022 – On Thursday, June 2, at 2:54 p.m., Ocala Fire Rescue responded to a collision and vehicle fire report on I-75, just north of Exit 354.
Upon arrival, Engines 1, 3, and 4, Rescue 1, Tower 1, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer found a semi-truck facing the wrong way on I-75's northbound lanes with a front compartment fully engulfed in flames and an upright sedan on the shoulder of the road. All northbound lanes were blocked.
The semi appeared to have run through the guardrail while traveling southbound after suffering a front tire blowout.
Crews assessed the scene for hazards and injuries. Confirming that there were no occupants in the semi's cab, fire knockdown began.
The fire was smothered using two hose lines, tank water from three fire engines, and approximately 10 gallons of an extinguishing foam.
No injuries were reported.
Ocala Police Department, Marion County Fire Rescue, and Florida Highway Patrol also responded.
