Bolivar - Firefighters from seven departments assisted the Bolivar Fire Department battle a residential structure fire on Meadow Square NE in Wilkshire Hills shortly before 6:40 AM on Sunday, April 12th. Tuscarawas County 911 dispatchers received calls from neighbors reporting the fire which initially sent Bolivar Chief -1 and Rescue Engine-103. Upon arrival Bolivar Chief Shawn Lynch found a two-story vinyl sided residence fully involved on the C-Side Exposure with flame spread to the second floor. Lynch requested additional units from Zoar, Mineral City, Strasburg, East Sparta, Erie Valley Fire District, Dover, and Wayne Township. Low water pressure hampered firefighters and a tanker shuttle was initiated to augment the water supply which allowed firefighters to knock down the flames.
The residence was equipped with working smoke detectors and alerted the family of the blaze and allowed them to escape. An Inspector from the Ohio State Fire Marshall’s Office was contacted, and the fire is under investigation. Firefighters were also assisted by the Bolivar Police Department and a medic unit from Smith Ambulance.
