ROCKY POINT, NY - The Sound Beach Fire Department was sent on mutual aid to help the Rocky Point Fire Department with a commercial structure fire on Main Street in Rocky Point at around 2:30 a.m. on May 11th. According to officials, a roof fall and downed power lines in front of the structure complicated suppression efforts at the well-involved fire. Firefighters helped with overhaul and mop-up operations for nearly an hour while Sound Beach Engine 9 arrived on scene and secured a backup water supply. Around 4:00 a.m., crews were freed from the scene and went back into service.
