Woodmere, N.Y. — 29th June — Shortly after 1 p.m., the Woodmere Vol. Fire Department, located at 20 Irving Pl., Woodmere, NY, responded to a distressed boat close to the Woodmere Docks. During low tide, firefighters discovered three people on board a ship that was stuck on a mudflat and could not be reached by traditional rescue boats. After successfully reaching the grounded ship, Hovercraft 3511 moved the occupants aboard Atlantic Beach Rescue 3628 in deeper water so they could be transported to land and given medical attention.

A coordinated response and a safe outcome were guaranteed for all parties involved thanks to mutual aid from Atlantic Beach Rescue, the City of Long Beach Fire Department, the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, and the Inwood Fire Department.
