At 0754 hours, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Woodlynne, Oaklyn, and Camden Fire Departments were dispatched to 120 Powelton Avenue for the report of a dwelling fire. Camden Engine 10 was first to arrive and reported smoke showing from the second floor. E-10 stretched a 1 3/4” hand line to the second floor and initiated the fire attack. Camden BC Dan Baker arrived and transmitted the all hands fire signal for a working fire in a two and a half wood frame single family dwelling. The all hands signal brought in Collingswood, Oaklyn, Audubon, and Gloucester City fire departments. The fire spread through the second floor and extended into the attic area. As the fire spread to the attic area, the roof partially collapsed and the crews were ordered out of the building and a defensive operation commenced. Crews utilized master streams and numerous handlines to extinguish this stubborn fire. Camden Car 1, Fire Chief Jesse Flax placed the fire under control at 1023. Several units remained on location until the early afternoon overhauling and extinguishing hot spots.
