On April 5, 2025, at 6:17AM, the Brunswick No.1 Fire Company, Center Brunswick Fire Company, Speigletown Fire Department, Mountain View Fire Company for the rapid intervention crew, and Mohawk Ambulance Service was dispatched to 180 McChesney Avenue. The caller reported the roof is on fire. A heavy black column of smoke was visible a mile away from the top of Hoosick Street at the line to the City of Troy. The sheriff's deputies arrived on scene and notified the dispatcher that they can let the fire department know they have a working structure fire.

Car one from the Brunswick No.1 Fire Company transmitted the signal thirty from the arrival report from his assistant chief. The chief arrived on scene and immediately transmitted the second alarm bringing Wynantskill Fire Department and Eagle Mills Fire Department to the scene. Engine 4-1 called in route four minutes into the fire and arrived on scene with in four minutes due to light early morning traffic on Hoosick Street. Firefighters immediately took the driveway and connected to the nearby hydrant at the end of the driveway. Engine-Ladder 35 arrived on scene and set up behind the first due piece of apparatus and immediately set up the truck company and began to extend the ladder over the top of engine 4-1. Firefighters deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the alpha side of the structure and firefighters began to knock down the fire on the exterior portion of the structure. Command notified all units to not enter the structure due to the solar panels on the roof.
Firefighters began to arrive on scene from mutual aid companies and began to set up master streams in the driveway. On the Charlie side of the structure firefighters still had a significant fire condition showing from the roof and from the rear of the building. Firefighters utilized their hand lines and continued to knock down the heavy fire condition.
Firefighters moved trust from the front of the structure to be able to get into the yard without having any tripping hazards in the way. As firefighters continued to work the heavy fire condition inside of the structure began to improve. Rensselaer County field operation staff arrived on scene and began to conduct their operations into the incident. After the heavy fire was knocked down and firefighters examined the inside of the home, command aloud crews to make entry to hit the remaining hot spots and conduct a primary search of the home. Within forty minutes firefighters had the entire incident under control. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation at this time.
