NORWICH, CT - On Monday, April 21st at 2:38 pm, the Yantic Fire Company with Norwich’s Engine 3, Truck 1 and Battalion 1 were dispatched to 12 Town Street Apartment 1 for an oven fire with extension. Dispatch transmitted the working fire at 2:40 pm after they took a second call reporting flames from the first-floor.
Battalion 1 and Car 3 arrived with fire showing from the first-floor 'bravo' side of a three-story, wood-frame occupied multiple dwelling. Truck Step used his can while Engine 3 stretched a one-and-three-quarter-inch hose line. Engine 3 attacked the fire so Truck X & Step could search the residence. Engine 32 laid in from a hydrant and established the water supply. Truck Driver flew the aerial and threw ground ladders.
Engine 33 assisted with overhaul while Squad A, Taftville Truck 25 and American Ambulance staged on scene. Battalion 1 was command and Car 1 had operations. The Mohegan Tribal Fire Department provided the FAST and the Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. The Norwich Police Department, Norwich Public Utilities and American Red Cross also assisted on scene.
