Home Destroyed by Fire in Lindenhurst

LINDENHURST, NY - At approximately 2:10 A.M. on April 15th, the North Lindenhurst Fire Department was alerted for Signal 13 in the vicinity of 43rd Street and Sunrise Highway.


Quickly en route was Chief of Department Stallone (1-11-30). Babylon Central Fire Alarm advised the Chief that Suffolk County Police was advising a house fire with people trapped on the second floor at 45th Street and Sunrise Highway. With this information, a working fire was transmitted.


Upon the arrival of 1-11-1, they gained a positive water source and put lines into operation. Upon the arrival of 1-11-4, they began searches. Initial mutual aid to the scene included Lindehurst for the rapid intervention and an engine from West Babylon. Lindenhurst 1-6-4 was quickly put to work as a truck co., and a new R.I.T was needed.


A minimum of two handlines were put into service with heavy fire on the second floor and the attic. Mutual aid consisted of the Lindenhurst FD for a truck (1-6-4), West Babylon FD for an engine (1-9-2), Copiague FD for the rapid intervention team (1-3-4), and East Farmingdale Fire Co. for an engine to standby (1-5-1). Units operated under Chief of North Lindenhurst Fire Department, Kenneth Stallone (1-11-30).
