At 04:13 hours on March 29th, 2023 The Lindenhurst Fire Department responded to a house fire on Kansas Street off of South Hamilton Avenue. Upon the response of the First Assistant Chief Dave Collins (1-6-31), Babylon Central Fire Alarm advised the Chief that they took a direct call for a fire in the bathroom. Upon Chief Collins making entry he was met with a bathroom on fire and relayed to the responding Chief of The Department that one line was going to be needed and that the room was isolated with the door being shut, he also stated that there was a smoke condition throughout the residence. The first responding Engine was 1-6-1. Engine 1-6-2 the second responding engine became the first due engine due to the proximately of the fire to the firehouse. Quickly on the way was the Lindenhurst TRUCK (1-6-4) upon their arrival they went inside for a quick primary search and then proceeded to open up to check for extension. Upon the arrival of Engine 1-6-2, they stretched one line to the front door and then proceeded to make entry to knock the fire. Upon the arrival of Engine 1-6-1, they dropped a 5-inch line from the hydrant and laid in, in case the extra water was needed. Crews operated one line to knock the fire, Sheet 4 had a second line ready at the front door. Fans were utilized to clear the house of smoke. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Suffolk County Police Arson. Lindenhurst units operated under Chief of The Department Michael DeGregorio (1-6-30). No injuries were reported.
