Brookhaven Fire Department 100th Anniversary Installation Dinner

ROCKY POINT, NY - On Saturday, April 1st, the Brookhaven Fire Department Celebrated the department’s annual installation dinner. The dinner was held at Majestic Gardens in Rocky Point. This year's dinner was also a celebration on a momentous occasion for the department, as they celebrate 100 years of service to the community. Master of Ceremony, Commissioner Michael Verni, welcomed all the distinguished guests and neighboring departments.  


After the elected officials gave their warm and congratulating remarks to the guests and members of the department, the Chiefs and Officers for 2023 were installed to their respective posts of office. Chiefs for 2023 are 2nd Assistant Chief Hudson Darrow (5-3-32), 1st assistant chief Giuseppe Loiacono (5-3-31) and Chief of Department Anthony Verni (5-3-30). Chief Verni was installed by his young son, Nicholas Verni, with the help of commissioner Michael Verni to the post of Chief of the department. Commissioner Verni also presented outgoing chief Dan DiPinto with his ex-chief’s badge. Captain John Hodge, Jr. and Lieutenants Brian Lamonica, Jr. and  Chris Martain were also sworn into office, as were the company drivers.


Numerous awards were also given out, including the Murray Fink chief’s award which was presented to  Member Carmine Santorelli and Captain John Hodge, Jr. Years of service awards were given out to members for service ranging from 20 up to 60 years of service. Once all awards were given out, the outgoing Chief Dan DiPinto gave his speech prior to the closing remarks and prayer being given, and the members were free to enjoy the rest of their night with each other and their invited guests.
