PITTSBURGH, PA – At 6:12 P.M. on April 5th, City of Pittsburgh firefighters were dispatched to a reported air conditioner on fire located above Jack’s Bar on East Carson Street in the city’s busy south side section.
The first arriving units reported a working fire with heavy fire on the 'Delta' side third floor of a four-story, multi-use building. A second-alarm was requested as crews went to work. Crews ran into residents still inside the building and were able to safely help them exit.
Firefighters were able to get a quick knock on the bulk of the fire, but spent some time extinguishing hot spots. The fire was finally placed under control just over an hour after dispatch. A total of 13 residents were displaced by the fire. None of them were injured.
Jack’s Bar, a popular Pittsburgh bar, sustained smoke and water damage and was expected to open the next day. The fire is now under investigation.
