KINGSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Around 1330 hours on the afternoon of Thursday, March 26, 2020 the Kingston Fire Department responded to a reported building fire at 44 West Street.
Companies arrived to find a fire in an unattached barn on the property. A working fire was requested, followed shortly there after by a second alarm. Mutual aid responded to the scene and to cover.
First arriving crews were short staffed due to a previous medical incident which companies were tied up on. Some off-duty firefighters responded to the scene to assist. Crews had heavy fire conditions in the rear of the barn.
Crews were able to make an aggressive attack and knock down the heavy fire within a short amount of time. Overhauling efforts were hampered due to a large amount of clutter inside the barn. The fire was able to be contained to the rear of the barn.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The fire may have originated in the area of a wood stove in the building.
