Mastic Beach Blaze Destroys Home

MASTIC BEACH, N.Y. — On a recent Wednesday morning , the Mastic Beach Fire Department (FD) and Mastic Beach Ambulance were dispatched to a structure fire on William Floyd Parkway between Parkwood Drive and Robinwood Drive at approximately 5 a.m.
Upon arrival, Mastic Beach FD Chief Luis Grego reported heavy fire emanating from a private dwelling. The chief immediately requested a working fire transmission and mutual aid assistance.
Firefighters swiftly stretched multiple handlines and began aggressive operations to bring the fire under control. EMS units from Mastic Beach and Shirley were also called to the scene to provide standby coverage and rehabilitation services for responders.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Firefighters remained on the scene for at least an hour and a half. Due to the operation, William Floyd Parkway was closed northbound in the area.
Mutual aid was provided by the Bellport, Brookhaven, Center Moriches, East Moriches, Mastic, Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), Ridge, and Yaphank fire departments. The Brookhaven Fire Marshal’s Office has taken over the investigation into the cause of the fire.
