On March 7, 2025 at approximately 17:33 hours, the Pennsauken Fire Department along with Collingswood Squad Co. 16 and Cherry Hill Ladder 1324 were dispatched to 7480 Crescent Blvd. at the Extra Space Storage self storage facility for the report of a jet ski on fire in a storage unit. Battalion 11, Jimmy Ervin, was first to arrive and reported three self storage units involved. First due engine, Pennsauken Engine Co. 1132, split laid a 4 inch supply line at the entrance and Collingswood Squad 16 continued the lay to the hydrant. The working fire box was transmitted which brought in CHFD Engine Co. 1352.
Crews immediately went to work stretching line and forcing entry to the involved units. Pennsauken and Collingswood crews took Division A from a narrow access road to initiate fire attack. Forcible entry was made into several units and crews worked to knock down the main body of fire, but the fire quickly spread to the connected rear adjacent units (Division C) where the CHFD engine and truck initiated their attack from a narrow access road in the rear. A second alarm was transmitted which brought in Merchantville Ladder 12-9, Oaklyn Squad 18, Westmont Tower Ladder 15, and Camden Squad 7 to assist with suppression, ventilation, and extensive overhaul duties. The fire was contained to just twelve storage units of the over four dozen that were attached. One civilian injury was reported. The fire was under control in about an hour.
