NORWICH, CT - At 9:14 P.M. on Monday, March 4th, the Yantic Fire Company with Norwich’s Engine 3, Truck 1 & Battalion 1 were dispatched to 46 Michele Drive for a house fire. While responding, dispatch stated they had an off duty police officer on scene reporting flames coming from the garage. They transmitted the working fire which added the Mohegan Tribal FAST and American Ambulance.
Engine 31 arrived at 9:20 P.M. with heavy fire showing from a 2-bay garage that was attached to a two-and-a-half-story wood-frame residence. They stretched a one-and-three-quarter-inch hose line to each garage bay and began suppressing the fire which had two cars burning inside. Engine 32 laid over 1,000-feet of five-inch supply line from the hydrant on the corner of Browning Road and Michele Drive.
Engine 3 stretched a third line from Engine 31 and went through the front door into the first-floor. Truck 1 set up in the neighbor’s driveway and flew the bucket to the alpha/delta corner. Members from Truck 1 also performed a primary search of the second-floor, but did not find any fire extension.
Car 38 had Yantic command and transmitted the second-alarm. This brought in East Great Plain with Bozrah Ladder 126. Car 139 had operations and the Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
