HYDE PARK, NY - On Saturday morning, March 4th at about 8:30 A.M., the Roosevelt Fire District was dispatched to a reported trailer fire at 1500 Route 9G. On arrival of first units, they found smoke coming from the front door and confirmed all occupants were out of the structure, with the exception of three cats. 

The first arriving firefighters were able to close all doors and vent, limiting the fire from extending until additional units arrived. On arrival of first-in Engine 63-13, firefighters stretched an attack line into the structure to find and extinguish the fire, which was located in the middle bedroom and quickly brought under control. 

Command requested the Dutchess County Fire Cause & Origin Unit to respond to determine the cause of the fire while firefighters overhauled and checked for hot spots. Once the fire was declared under control, firefighters went to task looking for the three cats reported to not be accounted for. Unfortunately, all three were found deceased. Command again contacted the DC911 dispatch center who were requested to contact the DC SPCA.  

The Dutchess County Cause & Origin Unit arrived and investigated the cause of the fire, which was unable to be determined, however it was not labeled as suspicious in nature.  

The Roosevelt Fire District was assisted at the scene by Northern Dutchess EMS, Town of Hyde Park Police, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the DCSPCA and Dutchess County Cause and Origin Unit, along with Central Hudson Gas & Electric. All units were back in quarters and in service by 12:30 P.M. No injuries were reported.
