Paterson battles third alarm on East Railway

A three-alarm blaze destroyed one Middle Eastern business and damaged two others on the evening of March 2nd in Paterson. As first due units arrived just after 10pm to 56 East Railway Ave Heavy fire was already venting through the roof. The center building was well involved inside. The building housed several industrial/commercial businesses. Not too long after firefighters commenced an attack the roof collapsed. Master streams went into operation to knock down the heavy fire.
"What hurts the most is that this is a halal meat/butcher shop and also a sweet shop, and it's Ramadan," Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh said.
One firefighter was hospitalized with a minor slip and fall injury, and a civilian was treated at the scene for an undisclosed injury, responders said., North Jersey Fire Canteen provided rehab.
