Tenafly - Firefighters battled a heavily involved house fire that severely damaged the home and sent one resident to the hospital around noon on February 27th. At 11:44am, multiple calls were received for a house fire at 12 Cameron Rd. While enroute, Chief 510 reported a column of smoke and requested the working fire assignment to be filled out. Once on scene, command reported a 2 1/2 story frame with heavy fire showing from the front of the house. Command advised the first due engine to hit the hydrant and go into service with their deck gun. Engine 2 arrived shortly after and went into service with their deck gun knocking down a bunch of the fire. Firefighters reported water problems from the hydrant and had to stretch additional lines to secure a water supply. During this time, the rear of the house became heavily involved and spread to the 2nd floor and attic. Englewood Truck and Dumont Rescue arrived on scene to assist with fire suppression. Three 1.75 handlines were stretched to the rear and front of the house to knock down the heavy fire conditions. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down, crews entered the home for an interior attack. Firefighters chased pockets of fire though out the house for an hour before the fire was placed under control. One resident was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation and burn. No additional injures were reported. The arson investigator was requested to the scene and the cause is under investigation.
