KINGSTON, NY - Back on November 26, 2022 at 4:09 A.M., Kingston firefighters were called to 97 First Ave. after neighbors saw flames pouring from the house. Firefighters arrived within two minutes and found heavy fire at the front of the residence.
Four people were located at the rear of the home. Two of the victims escaped through a back door while two others handed a child to a neighbor from a second-story window before dropping themselves to the ground. Five people were taken to the hospital.
Firefighters were informed that one person was still inside, but they were unable to enter a hallway due to fire which burned through a hose line. After gaining control of the fire in the hallway, stairwell and staircase, firefighters found a deceased adult male in a front bedroom and removed him via a ground ladder through a window.
Fire Chief Chris Rea said the fire was under control by 6:42 A.M., and completely out at 7:53 A.M.
