Harrisburg Bureau of Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The 2024 year has brought some major changes within the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire's apparatus. Earlier this year Tower 1 (2023 Seagrave Marauder-75') was moved into it's permanent role as the main aerial out of station 2. Earlier this spring, the city took delivery of (2) 2024 Pierce Enforcer's assigned to Wagon 3 and Squad 8. Both Wagon 3 and Squad 8 were officially placed inservice with Wagon 3 going into service during the mid summer, and Squad 8 followed a month later.

With Tower 1, Wagon 3, and Squad 8 going into service the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire made the decision to replenish it's aging reserve fleet and re-designate some apparatus that was recently replaced with new apparatus. Two subtractions from the city is a 1999 Seagrave (1500/500/Amkus) as Squad 8 until it was replaced in 2012 and served as Engine 1 out of the reserve pool. This piece was recently sold to a collector. The other piece was a 1997 Seagrave (1500/750/50) that formally served as Wagon 4 until it was replaced by a 2017 Pierce Enforcer and would serve as reserve Engine 2. This piece is currently serving as Engine 55 in Highspire Boro as a long term loaner while their engine is repaired.

The "new" reserve pieces for Harrisburg are Tower 5 (2008 Pierce Arrow XT w/1989 75' Aerialscope) that was formally Tower 1, Engine 1 (2008 Pierce Arrow XT (1500/500) that formally served as Wagon 3, and Engine 2 (2012 Pierce Arrow XT (1500/500/20F/Amkus) was formally served as Squad 8.
