Corolla Fire Department (Currituck County North Carolina) is a combination fire department. The department was established in 1983. The department protects the oceanfront and popular tourist community of Corolla NC. Due to their unique response area (including many miles of beach, limited paved roads, and numerous vacation properties), the Corolla FD has always had a pretty unique fleet. The paid firefighters are Currituck County Firefighters. Corolla Fire Department serves around 14 square miles out of 2 station. Station 1, the Whalehead Station is located at 827 Whalehead Drive. Station 1 houses Engine 6, Engine 61, Platform 61, Engine 64, Engine 65, and Brush 61. Station 2, the Pine Island Station is located at 470 Ocean Trail. Station 2 houses, Engine 66, Tanker 62 and Brush 62. The department answered 422 calls for service in 2023.
