Stony Brook Firefighters Complete Annual Bailout Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

During the week of July 3, Stony Brook Fire Department personnel finished their required yearly bailout requalification training.

Firefighter self-rescue and emergency escape procedures utilized when indoor conditions quickly become dangerous were the main topics of the practical training. In order to strengthen abilities that might be required during structure fire operations, crews rehearsed using personal rope systems to securely leave upper-floor windows during emergencies.

According to department authorities, the yearly training ensures that firefighters are always ready to defend themselves and their teammates during emergency situations.
