Elizabeth NJ Unique Engine 5

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Elizabeth (Union County, NJ) operates a 2014 Pierce Arrow XT with a 2000-GPM pump, a 750-gallon water tank and a 300-gallon foam tank, but by far the most unique thing on this apparatus is the 65' Snozzle with a piercing nozzle and a fog nozzle that can also be a straight stream. This apparatus was purchased with funds from the department of Homeland Security because of Elizabeth FD's unique incidents and first due area. Engine 5's firehouse is located in the section of Elizabeth Port. Elizabeth is home to many refineries, warehouses ship, terminals, an airport and many other challenging places that most other departments don’t face. This rig is equipped with a piercing nozzle for fires that may be at a port in a shipping container, or on a plane at Newark International Airport.
