Manville Fire Paid Tribute to Longtime Captain

Manville, R.I. — June 25 — In honor of his 36 years of devoted service to the department and community, the Manville Fire Department announced the loss of Honorary Member Captain Roger Gladu. Gladu began his career with the department in 1954 as a junior fireman and rose through the ranks to become Engine 1's captain. In addition, he was the department historian, keeping records of firefighter generations, milestones, and emergency situations.


His work contributed to preserving the department's heritage and customs for next members. His leadership, dedication, and enduring achievements to the fire department were honored in the tribute, which reflected the respect he had gained over the course of his decades of devoted public service.
