New Jersey Transit Police ESU-7

The New Jersey Transit Police has accepted delivery of a 2022 Rail-Rescue unit built by Pierce, and assigned as ESU-7. The Rail-Rescue will service places only reachable via train tracks, such as tunnels between New York and New Jersey and remote areas. The Enforcer model has a 500-GPM pump/300-gallon water tank/20-A foam cell/Husky-3 single agent foam system. There is a front-end discharge gate, anchor points along the box, coffin-style compartments, 10,000-lb. portable winch, trailer hitch, light tower, Harrison 20 kW generator, transverse compartments and rear mounted air horns. Transit police are trained as both police officers and firefighters and tend to disabled trains and brush fires along the tracks. The NJT police currently operate a with 2010 Pierce Arrow XT Rail-Rescue. The new unit was sold by Fire & Safety Services.
