Newton Fire recently hosted National Rescue Consultants to train all their members in Firefighter Rescue. NRC brought a number of different RIT tactics that one could apply in the field. Using our Ruth-Lee manikin they were able to demonstrate different moving and packaging techniques; then they broke our members up into smaller groups where they "rescued" each other. The training was delivered over a course of three weeks at Umass Mt.Ida campus. We successfully trained over 180 members of our department, keeping us sharp for one of the most important jobs on the fireground.
