Vernon Apartment Fire Quickly Knocked Down

VERNON, CT - On the morning of December 19, 2022 just after 8:00 A.M., the Town of Vernon Fire Department was dispatched by Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Service, Inc. for the report of a kitchen fire at Countrywood at Vernon Apartments on Talcottville Road.
First arriving units found smoke and fire extending from the townhome style apartment with the building being evacuated. A second-alarm assignment was started with a second ambulance. The fire was brought under control in approximately 25 minutes and limited to the apartment of origin.
Mutual aid from South Windsor, Ellington, Tolland and Manchester Fire Departments assisted at the scene, and others covered Vernon stations during the incident. One Ffrefighter was transported from the scene to a local hospital for evaluation.
