Amazon delivery driver assists occupants from house fire in Seneca Falls

SENECA FALLS, NY - On Saturday, December 14, at 1:59 p.m., firefighters from Seneca Falls, Fayette, Waterloo, Geneva (RIT) were dispatched to structure fire at 13 Joanne Avenue in Seneca Falls.


Units arrived on location with heavy smoke showing from a single-story home.


An Amazon delivery driver was in the area discovered the fire and helped to assist two occupants from the residence. One of which reentered and tried unsuccessfully to rescue two cats.


Command further reported a working fire in the basement, and additional rescue with manpower was requested from Clyde fire department.


The blaze was brought under control in about 45 minutes.


Also assisting at the scene were North Seneca Ambulance, Seneca Falls Police, NYSEG and the Red Cross.


The Seneca County Fire Investigation Team was working to determine the cause.
