The evening of November 20th, just after 11pm, the Town of Vernon Fire Department, Vernon EMS, and Vernon PD were dispatched for a reported structure fire on Liberty St in the Rockville section of town with multiple 911 calls. A second alarm was struck while units were responding as reports from first arriving VPD units indicated fire was through the roof. Car 741, followed by ET-541, were first to arrive and began to knock the visible street side fire down with ET-541’s deck gun. Tower 541 arrived and set up for aerial master stream operation while other fire attack lines were placed. Additional TVFD apparatus and personnel arrived to assist with the suppression efforts. The fire was brought under control and crews remained on scene for several hours dousing hot spots. No injuries reported. The Ellington F.D. staged on scene as the Rapid Intervention Team. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced residents and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Vernon FMO and Police Department.
