Quick Knock Down at Hasbrouck Heights Apartment Fire

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - At 11:00 P.M. on the evening of December 5th, Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department was dispatched to 130 Charlton Avenue for a reported heavy smoke condition on the second-floor. Chiefs 60, 61 and 62 arrived on the scene and found a working fire in the apartment, with reported people trapped.
Engine 2 arrived 1st due and stretched a line to the second-floor while Ladder 1's crew conducted a primary search. Along with Squad 1, mutual aid companies from Wood-Ridge, Little Ferry, Wallington and Hackensack arrived and assisted with ventilation and overhauling.
Members were able to stop the fire before it spread throughout the building. The fire was declared under control in about one hour by orders of Chief of Dept. Knobloch. Mutual aid was provided by Saddle Brook, Carlstdat and Moonachie. The fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
