Large pile of wood chips burns in Adams Center NY

At 8:14 PM November 25, 2024 the Jefferson County 911 Center dispatched Adams Center Fire Department to 19023 NY State 177 in the Town if Adams for an outdoor fire at Elliott's Tree Service with Adams Fire Department as Automatic Mutual Aid.  


Adams Center Fire arrived to find a very large pile of wood chips on fire. A plan was established by Adams Center Assistant Chief Joe Lees to move Adams Truck 1-8-1 into a position to knock down as much fire as possible from its tower. 



Mutual aid was requested from Rodman, Smithville, Lorraine, and Town of Watertown Fire Departments for tankers to shuttle water along with Adams Center and Adams units. Smithville Engine 41-4-2 was requested to establish a tanker fill site at a pond on Greene Street in the hamlet of Adams Center.

Adams Center engine, tanker , rescue.

Adams 2 engines, rescue, truck, squad.

Smithville engine, tanker,

Rodman 2 tankers.

Lorraine tanker

Town of Watertown tanker.


Units were on scene for approximately three hours.
