Albany Firefighters Handle A Bedroom Fire In A Apartment Complex on Brevator Street

On November 1, 2024, around 10:54 AM, the City of Albany's Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire at 18 Brevator Street. The caller reported a fire in the building. Engine ten, engine seven, truck two, truck three, rescue one, the rescue squad, engine eleven, Mohawk Ambulance Service, and the battalion chief responded to the scene. The first arriving engine on scene had smoke showing from the structure and the truck company took the front of the building on arrival.
Firefighters deployed a inch and three-quarter hand line to the front of the building and began to conduct a primary search of the building and evacuate the residence from the apartment building. Firefighters were able to quickly evacuate the structure, and firefighters located the fire floor and made entry to the apartment and discovered they had a room of content fire. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly and began to ventilate the structure. Firefighters notified command that they had the fire knocked down and under control. Firefighters deployed multiple ventilation fans to vent the building of all the smoke.
Firefighters overhaul the fire room and investigators arrived on scene and began to conduct their investigation into the fire. No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the main fire room. Firefighters went back into service later in the afternoon. The roadway which was under construction was reopened afterwards.
