FALL RIVER, MA - Two smoke inhalation victims were transported to local hospitals after a late afternoon fire, November 15th. Firefighters responded to a still alarm at the intersection of Eastern Ave. and Pleasant St. for heavy smoke coming from a three-story apartment building. Fire apparatus arrived at 712 Eastern Ave. to heavy smoke and flame coming from the third-floor of a wood-frame structure. Engines 2, 4 and 9, along with Ladders 2 and 4, Rescue 1 and Car 2 responded. The aerial ladder form Ladder 4 could not be used due to overhead power lines; ground ladders were set up by the crew of Ladder 2. Engine 9 attacked the fire while Engine 2 supplied their tank water to Engine 9, while Engine 4 connected to a hydrant to secure a water supply to the fireground. The third-floor and attic sustained heavy damage, while the fist and second floors received smoke and water damage.
