At 4:48 PM on Friday, 11/13/2020 the Plainfield and Central Village Fire Departments were dispatched to Interstate 395 Northbound just north of Exit 29 for a car fire. Engine 195 arrived at 4:59 to a fully involved car in the break down lane. Crews stretched an inch and three quarter crosslay and had the fire knocked within five minutes. During extinguishment, the magnesium reacted with the water but all members were fine due to properly wearing their personal protective equipment. The northbound lanes were shut down for about 20 minutes and the Plainfield Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
