On Saturday, October 26, 2024, around 4:40 pm, the Bridgeport ECC began receiving multiple calls reporting a house fire in the area of 6th St and Stratford Ave on the city's East Side. This "Frank-3" assignment consisted of Engine 6, Engine 1, Engine 10, Engine 4 as RIT, Ladder 5, Ladder 6, Rescue 5, Safety Officer 1, Battalion 1, and Battalion 2. While en route, companies were updated that the fire was going to be located in the unit block of 6th St. Battalion 2, under the command of Assistant Chief Armando Cora, arrived first on the scene and reported fire showing from the rear of a 3-story multiple dwelling and gave the all-hands. Engine 6 stretched a 2-1/2-inch line to the rear and got to work knocking down the large amount of external fire. Companies initially struggled to make headway. AC Cora requested an extra engine, bringing Engine 3 to the scene. Shortly after, AC Cora requested a 2nd Alarm, a full 2nd Alarm card was filled, bringing Engine 12, Engine 15, and Ladder 10 to the scene. As additional units arrived, companies were able to make headway on the fire and knock down the main body of fire. Additional lines were stretched inside to contain the internal extension of the fire on several floors and the attic. Companies were able to knock down the main body of the fire in about 45 minutes. Companies remained on the scene for several hours conducting overhaul and assisting occupants. There were no injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants. The cause of this fire is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal's Office.
