CITY OF JEANNETTE, PA – At 1:57 P.M. on October 30th, Jeannette fire crews were dispatched to a reported porch on fire on Lavelle Street.
Crews arrived approximately three minutes later and found the fire to be knocked down by the police. At 2:04 P.M., a Jeannette firefighter responding to the porch fire reported a working fire involving three duplex homes along the 300 block of Division Street, which is about a block away from the first fire.
Crews responded from the first fire and began setting up a defensive attack on the main fire building, and an offensive attack on the two exposure buildings. Several mutual aid departments were requested as crews worked for several hours to bring the fire under control.
Two of the buildings were destroyed, and a third sustained heavy fire damage. A total of five families, including seven adults and four children were displaced. No one was injured. The fire was deemed suspicious and is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal’s Office.
