Two alarm fire at "Fat Tire" brewery
FORT COLLINS, CO - The Poudre Fire Authority (PFA) sounded two alarms to control a silo fire at New Belgian Brewery on Monday November 7, 2011. The facility located at 500 Linden Street manufactures 675,000 barrels of beer annually including the popular brand, Fat Tire. No injuries were reported.
Torches were in use for the demolition of an empty grain silo when the fire erupted near noon. The silo is being replaced with a new one said Bryan Simpson a spokesman for the company. Mr. Simpson added the fire may have damaged an adjoining building. No further details were available at the time of this report.
PFA was formed in 1980 when the Fort Collins Municipal Fire Department consolidated with the Poudre Valley Fire District. PFA operates 14 stations in and around Fort Collins, a community of over 100,000 sixty miles north of Denver.
