Propane Fire Pit Fire Quickly Knocked Down in Whitman

WHITMAN, MA - Around 5:45 P.M. on the evening of Wednesday, November 6th, the Whitman Fire Department received a call for a reported propane tank on fire outside of a house. A box was struck and Engine-243, Car-3, and Car-1 responded. Car-1 arrived on-scene first and reported a small fire on top of the propane tank which was inside a propane fire pit. A dry chemical extinguisher was utilized before the engine arrived to knock down the fire and shut off the propane tank. Companies cleared the scene shortly after the tank was removed and deemed safe.
