Fire Destroys An Old Duplex House

Schnecksville, - On the evening of October 12th at 9:15 p.m., the Community Fire Company was dispatched to a dwelling fire at 4741 PA. Rt. 309. An early report said there was a fire in the rear of the house and command verified it was a working fire. The fast moving fire involved a two story twin spreading fire to the other twin and causing heavy damage. Six people and a pet were made homeless and the fire building could be considered a total loss. There were no reported injuries.Fire companies assisting Schecksville were Tri-Clover, Friedens, Neffs, Woodlawn, Laurys Station, Greenawalds, Germansville and North Valley EMS.
Ironically, the Schnecksville Community Fire Company had held a 100th Anniversary celebration behind their station that day inviting local fire companies to participate in fire skill games.
