Albany Firefighters Battle Early Morning Warehouse Fire

On October 23, 2024, at 3:40 AM, the city of Albany‘s dispatcher transmitted the alarm of fire for 120 Industrial Park Drive for a reported warehouse fire. Engine seven, truck three, the rescue squad, rescue one, engine five, engine ten, engine one, engine eleven, truck two, Mohawk Ambulance Service and the battalion chief was dispatched to the scene. The call originally came in as a reported sprinkler alarm. The police department arrived on scene and notified the dispatcher that they had a working structure fire with fire showing from the building. The dispatcher notified all units inbound to that facility that they had a working structure fire. The police department made sure everybody was out of the structure.


Engine seven arrived on scene and notified the dispatcher that they had fire showing from the bravo side of the structure and smoke showing from the loading dock area. Firefighters laid a supply line in through the yard of the warehouse facility and notified the next arriving unit to establish the water supply. Truck threes crew made their way into the yard and firefighters began to cut the door on the building to gain entry to the main fire area. Firefighters deployed a two- and half-inch hand line up into the loading dock area and firefighters went to work driving back the heavy fire condition. Smoke from the fire filled the warehouse facility and firefighters searched the facility to make sure that there were no other workers still inside of the structure.


Firefighters notified the battalion chief that they potentially had hazardous materials inside and outside of the structure. Firefighters inside of the structure continued to knock down the heavy fire condition that had breached the roof. As firefighters continued to work, the heavy smoke from the structure quickly subsided and firefighters began to bring the incident under control. Due to the compromised roof area of the building firefighters utilized extreme caution inside of the building. Fire continued to push out the side of the structure and roof area. The sprinkler system inside of the building continue to assist firefighters in keeping the fire under control. Once firefighters were able to push further back into the structure, they were able to knock down all of the remaining fire. Firefighters utilized the fan system inside of the building to clear the smoke.


No injuries occurred while battling the fire. Firefighters remained on scene until the late hours of the morning. Fire investigators arrived on scene and began to conductor investigation into the incident. Units went back into service in the late morning hours. The fire caused heavy damage to a significant portion of the warehouse.
