HO-HO-KUS, NJ - A two-alarm blaze struck a downtown Ho-Ho-Kus building on October 28^th, but aggressive work by firefighters kept the damage mainly to the original apartment.

A passing neighboring fire official reported the blaze at 3 N. Franklin Turnpike at 11:25 A.M. Heavy fire was venting out of several windows on the A/B second-floor as fire units arrived. A smoke column was visible from miles away. A second-alarm was transmitted. Two lines were stretched to the second-floor and were able to quickly knock the heavy fire. Three aerials were raised to the roof and second-floor as members checked for extension. Minor extension to the cockloft was handled. First-floor businesses suffered water and smoke damage. No injuries were reported, but two families were displaced, as well as several businesses.

Mutual aid was provided at the scene by Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Saddle River, Waldwick, Ramsey, and Midland Park.
