MASTIC BEACH, NY - Suffolk County police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday, October 1st, after a car veered off the road and into the woods near the northbound lanes of William Floyd Parkway, officials said.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:20 P.M., just north of Neighborhood Road. Officers from the 7th Precinct were dispatched to the scene, along with the Mastic Beach Fire Department and Mastic Beach Ambulance.
Firefighters from Rescue 5-13-4 secured the vehicle, while EMS personnel treated the driver at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital. The condition of the driver and details of how the accident occurred were not released.
Northbound traffic on William Floyd Parkway was temporarily diverted as emergency crews worked. Suffolk County Police Emergency Services removed the vehicle from the woods to allow for towing.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to authorities, and the scene was cleared a short time later.
