On Saturday, October 5th, 2024 the Brookhaven Fire Department hosted a fire prevention open house. The event ran from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Brookhaven Fire Department Station 1. The department has fire engines, rescue trucks, aerial ladder, brush truck, and water rescue equipment on display. Members of the department orchestrated live demonstrations such as a lithium ion battery fire, stove top fire, suffolk county fire marshal canine chuck, and a vehicle extrication. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk County Fire Marshals, and Suffolk County Fire Rescue Emergency Services MERV-1 were in attendance at the event. The event was a great way for the community to see the services the Brookhaven Fire Department provides for them.
