Colchester Second Alarm

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At 9:46 pm on Saturday, 10/5/2024 the Colchester Fire Department with Bozrah Ladder 126 and the Yantic FAST were dispatched to 152 Elm Street for an attached garage fire. Car 128 quickly signed on and transmitted the second alarm because Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications said they were taking multiple calls. Engine 128 arrived at 9:53 reporting a well involved two story garage that was threatening the home.

Engine 128 stretched a 2” hose line to the front of the garage and an 1.75” hose through the front door of the residence. Car 128 arrived next and established command. Engine 328 laid in from a hydrant on Elm Street and established the water supply for Engine 1. Engine 228 arrived third and stretched a hose line to the rear. Ladder 126 set up in the front and flew their stick to the roof.

Hebron Truck 110 & Squad 210, with Gardner Lake Engine 127, Marlborough Engine 117 and Lebanon Rescue 106 provided manpower on the second alarm. Ambulances 628 and 527 stood by on scene. The American Red Cross assisted two residents who were displaced and the Colchester Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating with assistance from the state fire marshal.
