The Old Tappan Volunteer Fire Department honored Ex-Chief Glen PFEIFFER for 50 years of dedicated service at its annual Inspection Dinner on Friday, 27 September 2024. Glen began his career as a Volunteer Firefighter in 1974 when he joined the Department's Junior Firefighter Program. Upon reaching age 18 he became a Regular Firefighter, and successfully completed various firefighting courses, which increased his firefighting skills, qualified him as a Chauffeur on the Department's apparatus, and permitted him to serve as a Fire Officer from the rank of Lieutenant to Chief of Department. Ex-Chief PFEIFFER also served the Department on the Administrative side by holding the positions of Treasurer, President and Trustee over the past 50 years. He willingly shared his professional experience in the business and finance sector to help the Department in its fund-raising endeavors and maintaining its fiscal and budgetary stability. Ex-Chief PFEIFFER remains an active Firefighter and frequently serves as Chauffeur on the Department's First Due Engine, especially during the critical, lowered staffing, daytime weekday hours. 

Glen was simultaneously honored at the Dinner by New Jersey State Senator Holly SCHEPISI who presented him with a proclamation from the New Jersey Legislature which commended him for his 50 Years of Volunteer Firefighting Service, and the Pascack Valley Firemen's Association which recognized this great accomplishment as well.
